recovering. no workout today. cleaned my bathroom to burn calories instead.

day 9

went over my limits again. Think i'll never learn! Was feeling great and decided to run for 10 minutes at 8.5. the result: huge pain in my shin. Need to take easy.

day 8

Same workout as yesterday. Felt more tired today and finished with with a slower pace than yesterday. Not to bad though. Happy.

Nice running after after a quiet weekend. 5 minutes running and then 5 walking.

day 6

No workout today because it's saturday and we are expecting some snow in london. A ham and cheese lasagna for lunch instead. Just to relax a bit!

day 5

Decided to run less time today as I was feeling a bit short of energy. The intention was to do 5 walking / 5 running for 20 minutes. Started walking and then, on the first 5 minutes running felt a bit of pain on my right leg... between the calf and the shin, external side. Just walked for the remaining minutes then and finished the workout with 1.97km in 20 minutes.
To compensate, decided to do some leg and calf exercises.
Feeling tired today.

day 4

No running yesterday, didn't feel good in the afternoon.

Today I went in the afternoon, a bit different of what I normally do... to be honest I prefer to run late mornings. Yesterday I could feel the lunch - that I had more than two hours before the workout - dancing inside my stomach. urgh. not pleasant.


Despite this digestive issue I was feeling great. Ran a bit more than usual and was awarded with a congratulations" from Nike+ for my best mile. :)
For the last 5 minutes I ran at 7.5 and could do more but decided for not pushing myself too much and wake up feeling pain the next day.

Heart rate still a bit high but I'm not so impressed anymore!

day 3 - morning

Woke up with an incredible headache. Yesterday when I went to bed I was already feeling it coming and I took a strong painkiller... it didn't help. Every now and then I have this headaches. Went to some doctores and they couldn't find a reason and it may be migraine... but most recently I had some x-rays done to investigate a back pain and the doctor told me that some twisted vertebras on my neck could be the cause of these intense headaches. I'm waiting for a physio appointment to see how it can be treated. Heard about osteopathy but it's not covered by the NHS so...

Hope feeling better so I can at least walk later today.

day 2

Today I did basically the same as yesterday but tried to run for 3 minutes instead of 2. I was also wearing my heart rate monitor and got a maximum of 204 bpm while running. A bit high, I know, but it's always like this even when I am not running so fast (8.5 today). The average was 137 bpm for the 30 minutes of exercise. Hopefully it will get better with some cardio training but's weird anyway.


I'm feeling good, no pain so far, which is great! Here's the picture of my workout summary, for the records! Hope to do this distance in shorter time in the future. Very excited about all this running!

30/01/2012 - a new start - day 1

Today i've decided to run again. I've notice a few months ago that my heart rate was incredibly high. For this reason I decided to see a cardiologist, who told me, after some tests, that there's nothing wrong with my heart and it just needs some conditioning. He recommended two weeks just fast walking around 3,5km a day, every day... Told me that it should be enough to feel confortable to start running.

I'm anxious and rarely can stick to a walking plan so I always start to run while I'm still not ready, which gives me some minor injuries in just a few runs. But now I'm determined to do it properly. To be honest I think walking very boring but if it's necessary let's move on.

Today I walked/ran for 35 minutes on a treadmill, doing like this:
- 8 minutes walking, starting at 5.5 and increasing 0.1 every minute
- 2 minutes running at 8.5
Repeated three times and finishing with a 5 minutes walk.


I felt very good and no short of breath at anytime and no major muscular pain. Quite happy with the result.

More simple than write down notes.
